Optimal Care Pathways

Lung Cancer Optimal Care Pathway update

A key focus area of the Optimal Care Pathway Implementation for the Lung Cancer stream has been to support Ballarat Health Services in establishing a Rapid Access Lung Lesion Clinic (RALLC).  Evidence has demonstrated that  Rapid Access Clinics are able to achieve a range of significant outcomes including faster diagnosis, less hospital visits and reduced patient anxiety.

RALCC provides a single referral pathway for patients with a proven or suspected diagnosis of Lung Cancer. This multidisciplinary clinic comprises a team of specialists from oncology, surgery and respiratory medicine streams.  It aims to expedite the assessment process and provide streamlined and timely care, as recommended by the Lung Cancer OCP which highlights best practice targets as follows:

Referrals can be made using the BHS smart referral template or via referral letter addressed to "Rapid Access Lung Lesion Clinic, RALLC".

The clinic will operate from the BRICC building, Ballarat Health Services 1st Floor, Outpatients Department.
