Wellness In The Grampians
Wellness is a term used in cancer care to refer to the wellbeing of the whole person, whether they be a cancer patient, carer, family member or friend.
"When it is complete the BRICC (Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre) will provide radiotherapy and chemotherapy services for cancer patients in Ballarat and the Grampians Region for many years to come. In addition, the BRICC will also incorporate a Wellness Centre for patients and their families, to address their wellbeing throughout their treatment and beyond." - Andrew Rowe, CEO, Ballarat Health Services
Established Wellness Centres exist in both South Australia and Western Australia.
The South Australian centre is called Restore, whose philosophy is 'to give back what is lost'...click here to go to the Restore website
In Western Australia, the Wellness Centre is called SolarisCare and aims to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and carers by giving them the support they require to cope with the emotional and physical side effects of cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
