LCTG Terms of Reference

The terms of reference as initially drafted by the CPCU have been slightly modified to fit in with local circumstances.

Local level functions need to ensure they are linked and in alignment with state wide functions and initiatives related to patient management frameworks, service mapping and that there is a balance between process and outcomes.

Local functions:

  • To provide clinical leadership for the tumour group at the ICS and health service level in the Grampians region.
  • Implementation and coordination of tumour specific standards at local, national and international level.
  • Review audits and reports of standards and performance indicators at the local and ICS level and advise on the dissemination of results.
  • Identify and participate in service development for tumour streams at the local and ICS level.
  • Advise on the capacity for the ICS or a health service to provide cancer services at a particular level and for a particular tumour stream.
  • Identify and implement clear referral pathways for each tumour stream within and across health services and ICS based on the ability of the service to meet accreditation requirements for the tumour streams.
  • Advise on the future developments of the PMF of each tumour stream.
  • Identify health services and ICS capacities based on the PMF and each tumour stream.

Local

Statewide

Establishment Phase

  • Clinical leadership for each tumour stream at the ICS and health service
  • Identify and participate in service development for tumour streams at the local and ICS level.
  • Advise on the further development of the Patient Management Frameworks for each tumour stream.
  • Identify health service and ICS capacities based on the Patient Management Frameworks for each tumour stream.

  • Advise on the development of standards for each tumour stream and generic standards across all tumour streams, consistent across the state.
  • Advise on the development of tumour specific key performance indicators, consistent across the state.
  • Advise on the development of accreditation and mechanisms including role designation and credentialing.
  • Advise on specific projects or work that needs to be undertaken in response to tumour specific issues or concerns or statewide directive eg: information resources, multidisciplinary care, coordinated care.

Ongoing phase

  • Clinical leadership for each tumour stream at the ICS and health Service.
  • Implement tumour specific and other standards at the local and ICS level.
  • Review audits and reports of standards and performance indicators at the local and ICS level.
  • Advise on the capacity for an ICS or a health service to provide cancer services at a role designation.
  • Identify and implement clear referral pathways for each tumour stream within and across health services and ICS based on the ability of the service to meet accreditation requirements for that tumour stream.
  • Respond to tumour specific matters referred by the Minister for health and Department of Human Services for investigation and reporting, as required.
  • Review standards and performance indicators and advise on further development consistent with emerging research and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Review audits and reports of standards and performance indicators at the statewide level and advise on the dissemination of results
  • Review accreditation mechanisms and provide advice on changes and further developments.

 

Memberships

Representatives of within the LCTG Grampians region who have an interest in cancer care reform.

Meeting Frequency

The LCTG will meet bi monthly at a time and place which is convenient for all key stakeholders.
