Supportive Care
The policy document for Supportive Care in Cancer, Providing optimal cancer care was released in May 2009 and covers reform in Victoria, defining 'Supportive Care', an outline of Victoria’s approach to supportive care and strategic directions for supportive care.
GICS is liaising with health care professionals and the community to identify supportive care needs of those affected by cancer in the Grampians Region. GICS is also working with the University of Ballarat to map existing services available in the Grampians which have a supportive care focus. GICS has developed a Supportive Care Strategic Plan which elicits activities for the next 3 years subject to review of the plan in 2011 following consultation with local stakeholders who are involved in providing supportive care to people with cancer.
