Terms of Reference
THE VISION
To ensure quality, access, appropriateness and timeliness of the care of people diagnosed with cancer and their carers in the Grampians region across the public, private and community sector. This will be achieved utilising the principles outlined in the Cancer Services Framework of Victoria www.health.vic.gov.au/cancer according to the following stages of cancer prevention and treatment.

Nurses In Cancer Care is a Grampians Integrated Cancer Service (GICS) initiative to assist in meeting core cancer reform milestones as set out by the Department of Human Services.

PURPOSE –
The purpose of Nurses in Cancer Care meetings are to:
- Provide a professional voice for those involved nursing of cancer patients within the Grampians region.
- Act as an advocacy for cancer patients.
- Establish networks with the Grampians region.
- Act as professional resource and reference body for cancer support services in the Grampians region.
- Assist in the care coordination initiatives and protocol development based on best practice.
- Develop recommendations to improve cancer care.
- Enhance current cancer care education and knowledge.
- Develop professional relationships with other support services.
Membership
Representatives of nurses in cancer within the Grampians region who have an interest in cancer care reform.
Meeting Frequency
The Nurses in Cancer Care will meet bi monthly at a time and place which is convenient for all key stakeholders.
