GICS Role
In 2004, nine Integrated Cancer Services (ICS) were established across Victoria by the State Government and given funding to assist health services to improve the journey for people affected by cancer. There is a dedicated Integrated Cancer Service for children, adolescents and young adults.
Cancer service improvement is the focus for the ICS and this is achieved under the direction of the State Government policy Victoria’s Cancer Action Plan (VCAP)
GICS, through its Executive Group is responsible directly to and funded by the Cancer and Palliative Care Unit in the Department of Health (DH) of Victoria.

Grampians Integrated Cancer Service (GICS) is involved with cancer service improvement across the Grampians catchment which stretches from the South Australian border in the west to Melton in the east, and from Edenhope to Hopetoun in the north. The area covers almost 50,000 square kilometres and a population of nearly 220,000 people.
